Wishwell

About us

Small gifts, big kindness

Our vision

A world where a small kindness is easy enough to happen on an ordinary Tuesday — not just at Christmas, and not only among people who already know each other.

Our mission

To let anyone post an honest wish, and anyone else grant it — with real prices, private addresses, and proof that the gift really arrived.

Why Wishwell exists

Asking for something is uncomfortable. Most people won't send a list of things they need to friends, and the ones who do are often asking for far less than you'd imagine — a backpack, a bottle warmer, a drill for a first job.

Giving is awkward too. Wishlists hide where things really stand: an item can look “purchased” when it was only reserved, and there's no way to know your gift made it to a door. So people hold back, or cap themselves at a few dollars in case it goes wrong.

And asking usually costs privacy. The usual workaround means putting your address somewhere a stranger can see it. We think that shouldn't be the price of a wish.

Wishwell is our attempt to fix all three at once: keep the asking small and honest, keep the giving cheap to try, and keep the address out of it entirely.

How it works

  1. 1

    Someone posts a wish

They paste an Amazon link. We pull the real title, photo, and price straight from the listing — no typed-in prices — and they add a line about why it matters.

  2. 2

    Someone else funds it

A sponsor gives the whole amount or a piece of it, and can leave a note. Many people can chip in on the same wish until the bar fills.

  3. 3

    We place the order

When a wish reaches its full price, our team orders it from Amazon and it ships to the wisher. They see who gave, and the note that came with it.

What we promise

Prices come from Amazon

Wishers can't set their own prices. The number you see is the live listing price, checked again right before any payment, so nobody pays a made-up amount.

Addresses stay private

Your shipping address lives apart from your wish and is readable only by you and the team who place orders. Sponsors never see it.

The gift actually arrives

Because we place the order ourselves, an item can't sit marked "purchased" and never ship. We confirm the order, then the wisher tells us it landed.

Names stay small

Public pages show a first name and last initial — for wishers and for sponsors. Enough to say thank you, not enough to find someone.

Who it's for

Wishers — anyone with a real, specific need or a small bit of joy they'd love to have and can't justify buying themselves. Posting a wish is free.

Sponsors — people with a little to give and no idea who to give it to. Start with ten dollars, one wish, and a note. Match Maker can suggest wishes that fit what you care about.
